I'm feeling muuucchhh better now!  I was a very sick little guy when ASR picked me up from the shelter.  I had a very bad cold and because I couldn't smell the food I wasn't eating.  I was just a tiny pile of skin and bones.  My foster Mom made me eat even if I didn't want to.  She put some yummy food in a syringe and put it in my mouth and it felt oh, so good to have a full tummy.  She also took me to the doctor and he gave me some great meds that made my nose not stuffy any more and my eyes got some gooey stuff that made them feel better too.

Now I'm a bit small but I weigh 3 whole pounds and I'm growing more every day.  I eat all by myself and remind them when it's time to eat again!  I eat the crunchy stuff too, yum!

I love my people so much and I love to snuggle and I even ASK to be snuggled.  If I'm down on the floor I'll hang around your feet until I see something really interesting like a mousie or a fuzzy ball or Little Bit!  I really love to play with her the best.  She's bigger than me but she doesn't bite hard or use her claws on me.  She only has one eye so I'm carfull with her too.  I'm meeting my other foster brothers and sisters too.  Just today I played with Laurence - he's my size and although he made his tail go fuzzy we got along like BFFs right away.

I am ready to find a forever home now.  I would love to have another kitten to play with and someone who will make sure I'm getting a high quality food so I can maybe catch up with the others my age.  Would you like to have a little lover-kitty to be your BFF forever?  Just call my foster Mom for a chance to meet me!

Oh, and I'm a black Siamese cat and my name is Salem...do you remember who the other Salem was?

UPDATE: Guess what, I'm not a skinny guy anymore!  I weigh 4.6 pounds and I'm all boy!  I love to run and play but I love my head scratched and my tummy rubbed.  I will purr for you and you can hold me on my back like a baby.  I like other kitties but they should be my size 'cause I can get a little excited and a little bit rough.  I don't bit or scratch I just smash 'em! <G>

UPDATE: It was time for some new photos of me.  I have really become a handsome guy, at least my foster Mom says so.  I get great food and lots of love and so I have a very shiny, sleek fur coat and big old copper penny eyes!  Mom says I probably am part Bombay along with my definate Siamese.  I love to run and play but I also love to be petted and snuggled and I snuggle back.  I like to sleep on foster Mom's bed and I have great house manners!  I'm not a year old yet, and I REALLY wish someone would just give a black Siames a chance to be your BFF!  I'd love you more than you can know!

Black cats are NOT bad luck, the bad luck would be if you don't come and check me out because I'm a really sweet and special boy waiting to be your best friend.

NOTE: Salem suffers from chronic "snuffles".  He will probably have this issue the rest of his life.  It consists of a sometimes stuffy, runny nose and sinus congestion.  It is probably the result of is early URI.  He will require periodic rounds of a pretty inexpensive antibiotic which rids him of his symptoms for several months at a time.  He may out grow it, or overcome it.  He is not contageous that we know of.  He's an awesome cat and well worth the small effort it takes to deal with this issue. - - Rae

UPDATE: Seems another update is in order.  Salem is doing really well and hasn't had to have antibiotics in a few months now.  Occasionally I give him some Chlortrimeton or Little Noses baby nose drops for stuffiness, but he may just be growing out of it.  Can we keep our fingers crossed????  He's such a love - - Rae
