Contact Penelope II (Penny)'s Caretaker/Foster Directly: Rae (rae@luvzhorses.com)

Hello,
My name is (was) Karma and my story has a happy ending (so far).  I was adopted in Houston but when my owners moved they dumped me outside and left me to fend for myself.  I didn't know how so a really NICE man who was a neighbor fed me and watched out for me and was looking for a no-kill shelter to send me to but since my original caretaker did not spay me I got pregnant and gave birth to four kittens.

I began living under the staircase near the only home I had known.  The nice man got really worried about us, he said I was getting thinner and thinner and he thought I was beginning to give up because I no longer looked for food. My babies got sick and their little eyes got all matted and stuck shut and it was hard for us all.

Finally the nice man contacted Austin Siamese Rescue and we came to Austin to be fostered here.  All my babies and I got some meds to quickly kill all the fleas on us, then our foster Mom gave all my babies a bath and soaked their eyes open and put medicine in them.  She gave me a different kind of bath that I really liked and she discovered how much I love to be loved!!!  I really missed being petted and talked to!

We got this cool new apartment in foster Mom's big bathroom where we could all be together safe and sound and not give our germs to the other kitties in the house.  I'm soooo happy.  We will stay together now until it's time for my babies to live on thier own and then we can all go to our forever homes.  Maybe one of my babies can come with me, but we'll wait and see.

Foster Mom named my babies Chosun who is a male Snowshoe, Miu (pronounced Mew)  who is a female silver and white tabby, Ming who is a male blue point Siamese and Tao who is a lynx point Siamese.

If you are interested in further information on my kittens, they can be pre-adopted to approved adopters but will not be ready until mid August to leave our nest.

I'd love to find a nice forever home myself and feel loved like this from now on.  I did not like being left behind...

UPDATE:  Happies and a big bummer!  My kittens are all grown up and ready for their own homes and they are healthy and very well adjusted.  Foster Mom will be getting some photos of them up and they'll all get their own web pages.

BUT...bummer...I broke my leg!  It was my first night out with out the babies with my own "stuff" and a nice quiet spot to sleep, but still in the room with my kids so I could make sure they were okay.  I wish I could talk and tell foster Mom what happened, but it HURTS and I had to have x-rays and those showed a perfectly broken femer (thigh) bone.  Did I say it HURTS?  Now I have to be in a tiny cage and take pain meds so it won't hurt so much, but I also will have to have surgery to fix it.  Ouch!

UPDATE:  Had my surgery and it's looookin' good!  Of course I'm shaved BALD on my hip and down my leg, but my foot is still fluffy.  It makes me look like I'm wearing a furry boot <G>.  I had to have a rod put in my thigh to make sure that stuff didn't wiggle around.  In a couple of months I'll go in and have that removed.  I'm feeling good and I have a very nice double-long apartment (two crates wired together) which gives me a lot of room for the box and a bit of a walk to it so I at least get to move around a bit.  The other half is a cushy bed and good food and water.  Gee, a girl could get used to this...NOT!  I am a very patient girl, but it's definitly not fun being cooped up with a broken leg.  AND a big one...Foster Mom changed my name! <LOL> I wasn't having very good "Karma" so she decided on a nice feminine name Penelope - Penny for short.  I kinda like it - especially since you find a Penny and you pick it up and all day long you'll have GOOD luck.

NOTE FROM RAE: This is the sweetest cat possible and just when she was due a break in life she got the wrong kind.  Surgery will be VERY expensive so if you can help in any way, please donate to Karma's broken leg surgery fund.  I would appreciated it with all my heart.  THANKS!

The surgery cost right around $1200 by the time all was said and done!  Eeek!

BIG UPDATE: Penny is all healed and all the hair that was shaved off for her spay and for her broken leg is almost all grown back - just a skosh more and you won't even know she had it.  Penny remains one of the sweetest most affectionate cats I've ever had.  She loves to crawl up on your lap and give you snuggles and face rubs.  She's truly a lap cat with so much love to give.  Won't you come and meet her and consider making her your BFF! THANKS!
