Hello,
My name is Leonidas.  I'm a big boy! I am certainly Main Coon but they said my mother was a Siamese.  I had a sister that was a really beautiful flame point Siamese, but she died just after we arrived here in Austin.

We were transported from our home (temp foster for 8 months) in New Orleans, Louisana to Houston, Texas to get ready to be sent to Austin to be fostered and adopted.  We caught a ride with a sweet hound dog on a private plane and it was just too, too scary!  It was loud and made my tummy feel funny and my sister was in another carrier so we couldn't snuggle.

When foster mom picked us up at the Georgetown airport she knew we were terrified, so she put us in the carrier together and sprayed some special stuff in the air in the car that helped to calm us down some.  We were still really, really scared.  We don't know why my sister got sick and wouldn't eat or drink (it could have been her kidneys) but she passed away and I was alone.

Foster mom understands scared kitties put me in a big, big cage with food and water and a nice litter box and put a cover all over it so I could feel safe.  She and her daughter kept coming in and petting me and talking sweet to me. I am still a little shy but I love, love to be petted and will sit in your lap and purr while you do it.  I am sort of silly too - I hiss and then let you pet me <G>.  Old habits and all!

I am ready now to have a forever home of my own.  It would be nice to have one kitty friend but foster mom thinks I'd do okay on my own as long as I get plenty of hugs and kisses - oh and I like to be brushed too!

UPDATE:  Leonidas is not in a cage anymore, but out and about in the cat room.  He's still a bit on the skittish side, but will approach you and then allow some petting.  He spends more time with my daughter and he's gotten to be pretty good friends with her and now what he REALLY needs is a forever home where he can have more 1:1 attention.  Please don't slide by this guy because he will be a WONDERFUL companion and friend.  Talk to me about our foster-to-adopt program.

Please won't you come and meet me and maybe choose me for your BFF???

UPDATE: 2-9-2015 - Leonidas is ready for the next step.  He's back in a cage so we don't have to chase him to initiate contact.  He relishes the petting and quiet attention and can be picked up BUT he stays very tense and sometimes shakes a bit from fear.  He's coming around but I don't know how long it will take for him to be a confident kitty if he ever will be.  Right now what he needs is some intense 1:1 handling in a calm environment and with special patience.  He'll be a project but he's so beautiful and such a gentle soul that he is well worth the effort.
