Foster Homes Needed -- Friday June 4th, 2010

"Kitten Season" is here! We receive requests from area shelters and individuals to take in orphaned kittens on a daily basis. Our current foster homes are full and we are seeking fosters that can accommodate anywhere from bottle babies, single orphans, litters and litters with moms or adult cats. There is an approval process for fostering. Please contact loveasiamese@yahoo.com and we'll send you the application and will be happy to answer your questions.

Adopt a Senior Pet Month! -- Sunday November 1st, 2009

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! We have many loving, healthy senior cats who would like nothing better than to be your heart kitty! Click on the "Seniors" tab under "Animals" on the left side, and your search is on!

A Little Bit Special -- Sunday August 30th, 2009

A big thank you to Shellene in Whylie, TX for adopting Heidi. Heidi has a bad scare when she was little and just doesn't like to be picked up, but Shellene is willing to love her just as she is -- such a nice thing. As people we are happy to be accepted just the way we are; kitties are no different!

Meet Annie Oakley -- Monday July 6th, 2009

ADOPTED 9/8/2009!! Annie’s 4th of July weekend didn’t start too well. Someone shot this little 4 week old blue point with a BB gun. She suffered in the heat, was hungry, and has now a slight infection in addition to the hole in her side. The good news is the Austin Siamese Rescue was able to take her in, give her good care immediately, and has found a temporary foster for her until she’s old enough to be adopted (and have the BB removed which is lodged in her chest). But, the news isn’t going to be good for other cats and kittens. Some will be euthanized; others will continue to suffer in the streets either from injury or just being lost. ASR is over flowing. We need temporary fosters (4-8 weeks) and as well as those who might commit for longer periods. If you are able to help ASR, please let us know. There are cats at Town Lake Animal Center right now that need rescue and ASR simply doesn’t have the space. If you have questions contact loveasiamese@yahoo.com or call 512-261-6395. If fostering isn’t your thing, adoptions also open up space for more kittens and cats or pass this forward to a fellow animal lover who might be interested. Thank you Austin Siamese Rescue http://austinsiameserescue.org (Donations are very welcome and needed through PayPal)

Owner Surrenders Up -- Friday June 19th, 2009

For a variety of reasons, owner surrenders are up and good samaritans are finding more wonderful, social Siamese wandering their neighborhoods in need of a good meal and a comfortable place to sleep and be loved. ASR has only limited space available at this time. If you have a place for a single kitty or two to put their paws for a couple months or more please let us know. We would love to help these cats in needs, but are over capacity at this time. All cats will be have been to a vet and been treated and or received vaccinations before a temporary or permanent placement is made.

Short Term Fosters Need -- Friday April 24th, 2009

ASR has an immediate opening for a short term foster for a lovely Siamese mix girl that is in need of a new home having been abandoned and left with a roommate. We anticipate needing temporary housing of from two to four weeks. A permanent foster has committed to this girl as soon as a space opens. If interested, please contact sharon@austinsiameserescue.org. The need for fostering is on-going particularly for cats that needs a quiet, stable place to recuperate and adjust. These are generally really wonderful cats that are simply bewildered by their new circumstances. If you are interested in helping, let us know. "loveasiamese@yahoo.com"

25 Siamese and OSH Saved -- Tuesday April 7th, 2009

Austin Siamese Rescue, in cooperation with South Texas Persian Rescue, was able to rescue 25 Siamese and Oriental Short Hair Cats from a breeder in San Antonio who is dying of cancer. South Texas Persian Rescue was able to save 10 Persians. We desperately need donations to cover the basic care of these lovely cats. One hundred dollars per cat will cover basic vet costs, including combo tests, vaccinations, microchips, and spay/neuter. We will post pictures of the cats and more details as they become available.

The Copperas Cove Animal Shelter has successfully place both Fatty and Blue in new homes. Thank you to everyone who expressed interest and worked to get the word out about these two kitties that were in critical need of assistance.

18 Balinese at TLAC -- Monday December 15th, 2008

We've just heard that 18 Balinese cats were surrendered today by their owner to Town Lake Animal Center. We need foster homes to help save some of these cats; contact loveasiamese@yahoo.com if you can help. Since TLAC is only required to keep owner surrender animals for 1 day, the need is extremely urgent.
